GranPower is a Support Group for
Grandparents.
Empowering Grandparents who have been denied contact
with their Grandchildren.
If you would like to receive a newsletter, attend a picnic,
or start some journal writing, contact us.
We can also put you in touch with other Grandparents in your situation,
for friendship, networking and/or sharing court experiences.

Grandchildrens’ rights and Grandparents’ rights are dependant in practice
on parents' choices. Although the wheels of justice turn slowly, fortunately for the children and us the courts have a slightly different take on it and many of our Grandparents’ court experiences have been positive ones. I am inclined to think that our sad circumstances are a growing phenomena, with the courts seeing more and more of we Grandparents in our autumn years breaking our hearts, necks and bank balances to see our beloved Grandchildren. I can say, from a personal perspective, I have been treated fairly and with respect by the courts. We as a support group fully support Grandparents who have chosen not to go down the legal avenue - your choice is personal to your situation, and this path is certainly not for everyone. We are here for support and we do not enquire into reasons for family breakdowns – we are concerned only with the results of them - the consequences of loss. |
